I do a lot of crafts with kids, and this is a fun spring craft that kids love! Here's what you need:
small terra cotta pot
craft/fun foam
buttons
paint
ribbon
tacky glue or hot glue (with an adult)
green pipe cleaner
planting foam
First, have everyone paint their pots the color of their choice. While it is drying, cut flower shapes out of your fun foam. You need a back (larger, more round shape, 1 layer), and front (smaller, multiple layers, decorate with buttons) flower, that you can glue together at the top of your pipe cleaner. Cut your pipe cleaner in half (Maybe even more depending on how tall you want your flower. If you make it too tall it will fall over!) Bend half the pipe cleaner into leaves, and twist them around straight half to attach. Glue the front and back halves of your flower together with the top of the pipe cleaner in between and let them dry. When the paint is dry, you can glue on the ribbon and buttons however you like them (the hot glue is faster and you don't have to hold the stuff in place, but the tacky lasts longer). After decorating your pot, put the planting foam inside, and stick the bottom of your pipe cleaner stem with the flower on top into the foam. Yay! A fun easy, kid friendly activity, and a cute spring decoration!
